About

I started taking photos when I was 8 years old. My parents gifted my brother and I an HP Photosmart R930 so we could take photos of our Lego creations and post them online. When we upgraded to a Nikon D90, we started taking photos of everything in sight — experimenting with depth of field and shutter speed, and learning more about what our camera is capable of and how different lenses affect the image.

When I was 11 years old, I enrolled in Project Basho — a photography resource center located in Philadelphia, where I was introduced to Adobe Lightroom and also learned how to print my own images. In 8th grade I put together my first portfolio collection for a year long school project, where I took, printed, and framed over 20 images of Philadelphia which resulted in me making my first sale as a photographer.

In high school I picked up any job I could get. I began providing assistance with product photography for my brother's business, capturing images for school plays, local theater productions, sports games, holiday cards, and a variety of other occasions. In 10th grade I attended a one month program at the Student Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) to further my knowledge.

At college I do a lot of event photography, as well as headshots for orgs on campus. My favorite job thus far was taking images of the TEDx event at my school. Most of my time now is spent doing product photography for my own business kalmandcollected. While I still pick up odd-ball jobs here and there, my true passion is for travel photography. One day, rather than selling my skills as a photographer, I hope to sell my own images as art — featuring them in galleries and online articles. I look up to photographers like Toshio Shibata, and Sebastião Salgado and hope to create my own powerful images that are capable of inciting so much emotion in others.

Currently I’m located in Boston but I spend a lot of time on the east coast, mostly in Philadelphia and New York. If you’re interested in hiring me as a photographer, or want to purchase one of my images, feel free to contact me via phone, email, Instagram or LinkedIn. Thank you for visiting my website and I hope you enjoyed your stay!
